Beacon Hill Eagle Scout Project

Hello!  My name is Jake, and I am a Boy Scout in Troop 118 in Denville, NJ.  I have been involved in scouting for over 10 years.  I am currently a l Life Scout working towards becoming an Eagle Scout.  One of the requirements for the Eagle Scout Award is to plan and lead a significant service project to benefit  a school, religious institution or community.  My project, "The Beacon Hill Project" will consist of the following:

 Phase 1:  Cleaning up the area on Beacon Hill in Denville where there is a replica of a Revolutionary War Beacon. The spot is currently overgrown and full of trash. Scouts and I are removing trash, pulling weeds, raking leaves and spreading gravel.  In addition, we will install an informational plaque on the Beacon. 


Phase 2:  Designing and helping to construct / install a sign for the Beacon Hill section of Denville on the bottom of Memory Lane and Parks Road.  In addition, scouts and I will be landscaping around the sign. 


Phase 3:  Creating a educational brochure about the Beacon on Beacon Hill.
