Hi! My name is Sarah McCarthy, and I live across the street from the playground on Barbara Road in Stoneham. My boys have loved playing in this park since we moved here in 2021. Recently, we have seen more and more kids come here to play. The structures are very outdated and, in some cases, unsafe. I have been in touch with the town to see if we could fix this park up but was told it is not in the budget. I was advised to raise the funds myself if I wanted to see anything happen. This is a great neighborhood with more and more families moving in, and this park is a great place for these families to gather that is off the beaten path. After speaking with numerous companies and people who have rebuilt parks in other neighborhoods, I was given an all-in quote of $60,000. If neighbors and DPW are willing to help out with the rebuild, we can cut this cost down. All of the money raised will go to the playground in some capacity, whether it be adding additional play structures, getting a new fence, or adding a new table and bench. Let’s work together to get this park fixed up so neighborhood kids have somewhere safe to play!
