Care Begins with a Brick: Help build a Children's Hospital

Barbara Kwateng Lupus Trust (BKLT) aims to raise awareness and support research into the causes and effects of Lupus.

The Barbara Kwateng Lupus Trust has an opportunity to develop a hospital in Juaben, Ashanti region, Ghana to provide treatment and care for infants, children and adolescents. Children represent the future, and ensuring their healthy growth and development ought to be a prime concern of all societies. Children are particularly vulnerable to malnutrition and infectious diseases, many of which can be effectively prevented or treated.

Location:

The site lies in Juaben Town which is 20 miles to the North East of Kumasi. There is a distinct lack of medical facilities for children in the area and a large and growing young population of rural and semi-rural families in the district.

The Site:

The hospital will sit on a 10-acre site - two pieces of land have been made available to BKLT for the development – one with a frontage off the main Ejisu to Effiduasi road, on the Ntonso road which lies on higher ground sloping to the south.

We have a fundraising goal of £1M - we know this is a significant undertaking, but with community support, we can make it a reality—brick by brick. The project will unfold in phases (see below) and we’re committed to keeping you updated every step of the way.
