The Aldana’s journey to their miracle baby ✨

Hi there! Thank you for being here to read more about my sissy Vanessa and brother Walter Aldana and their journey to starting a family. Before I tell you about their journey to parenthood, I want to mention first how much this beautiful couple has been through to grow their family. Their faith and determination is unshakable and I know everyone that knows them is fervently waiting for Baby Aldana.

Vanessa and Walters journey of starting a family began almost seven years ago when they got married. They have always wanted a big family at a young age and couldn’t wait to start trying once they tied the knot. They tried naturally for 5 years and never once got pregnant.

It wasn’t until 2020 when Vanessa spoke to her OB about not getting pregnant. She then was put on a fertility medication named Clomid to help her ovulate and attempt to get pregnant from that. She went through three unsuccessful attempts with that and was referred to a fertility specialist in San Francisco.

After months of waiting to get established as a patient through the fertility clinic, Vanessa had to go through in depth testing and procedures including a HSG which is a procedure to make sure that her fallopian tubes were open to determine the best course of treatment. They were so relieved to find them both open clear! Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with PCOS, which in her case directly affected her ability to get pregnant naturally without the help of medication due to a hormone imbalance that doesn’t allow her body to mature eggs in her ovaries to ovulate on her own.

The doctors then gave them a treatment plan in hopes of getting pregnant. The first course of treatment was to take the Clomid again to stimulate follicle growth in her ovaries which blood work and ultrasound imaging would confirm. She went through multiple rounds of failed medicated cycles to find a dosage that her body finally responded to. Which was three times the original dosage. She ended up having two big follicles on each ovary that she ovulated with a HCG trigger shot. Unfortunately she did not fall pregnant. She did one more cycle of Clomid after this and her body again did not respond to the medication.

The Doctor then changed the medication from Clomid to Letrozole which has a history of better results in women who have PCOS. She did that treatment multiple times through out a year which led to only two attempts to try to conceive. Both of those attempts resulted in very early miscarriages.

The doctors agreed to letting them try one last medicated cycle. Reverting back to combination of a higher dose of Clomid and a steroid to stimulate her ovaries. Vanessa’s body responded great to these medications and had five follicles which meant five eggs to ovulate! Three of those five follicles were mature (healthy sized eggs) and were triggered by a HCG shot.

This treatment resulted in a pregnancy that looked very promising! Until Vanessa’s HCG (pregnancy hormone) was not increases at the rate the doctors wanted to see. After a long 7/8 week period of constant blood work, testing and ultrasounds they determined that their baby was growing in her fallopian tube which led to an ectopic pregnancy. This pregnancy ended in emergency surgery where they removed the baby from Vanessa’s left fallopian tube. Although that last round of medication with the steroid worked, Vanessa now has a new diagnoses of fallopian tubal issue where they do not function properly. Ectopic pregnancies are very dangerous and since she experienced one she is at high risk of having another.

The Doctors have now deemed IVF as the safest and best course of action moving forward. At this point, their is only one obstacle that they’re facing and that is funding IVF for our baby Aldana. As many of you know, IVF is a HUGE financial burden for families across the globe. The last thing we want them to be worrying about is how they will be able to afford this. If your heart calls out to help Walter and Vanessa with their journey to growing their family ( set to hopefully begin in early 2023 ) - you can start here!

Even the smallest donation is SO appreciated to help them reach their dream of becoming parents. ♥️
