Little Joanna Eve was born on the 12th of July into the arms of her loving mother who was working in a foreign country to support her family back in Sri Lanka. Finding herself in a hard working situation as a housemaid, she ran from the home and found herself in a struggle to survive. She is now among ten mothers in prison who have had babies since their arrival this year. Although she desperately wants to keep little Joanna, the act of becoming pregnant outside of marriage would be detrimental for her and her baby when she returns to Sri Lanka. When she is released from jail and sent back to Sri Lanka, Joanna would most likely be killed. Her mother wants her baby to live - and as the name Joanna Eve means 'gracious gift of life from God' - He has provided a loving home for her through a God fearing couple here in country.

Rebecca and Maduka are overwhelmed with joy in how God is opening doors for them to be able to adopt Joanna. 

It is the first time an adoption process will take place for an expatriate baby in this country. 

In order for Joanna's mother to be released from prison and for the baby to be officially adopted with the help of lawyers and other paperwork processes, Rebecca and her husband need to raise 7000$.  

Please pray that the Sri Lankan embassy and local authorities involved will be able to work efficiently to help Rebecca and her husband through the process. Pray for Joanna's birth mommy to be comforted and supported upon her re-entry to her home-country. Pray for wisdom, strength and support for Rebecca and Maduka as they care for this precious little one.
