8 years ago, while living in Chicago, we would always drive past an underpass at Belmont and Kimball where many homeless people made their homes. We figured if we were in their position, a hot meal and knowing someone cared would go a long way. We went home, cooked up some hamburger helper with dinner rolls and passed out 10 meals. We asked what they were most in need of and got to planning! Although we participated in other charity endeavors, we decided that this one was close to our hearts, and this is how we would make our little stamp on the city. We decided to do it every year! “Be A Blessing Day” was born!
We know this year has brought along some challenges for us. It has forced us to shift, It has forced us to pivot, It has forced us to be able to change on the drop of a dime. Be A Blessing Day will be no different. Each year we ask ourselves 3 questions. How can we spread love? How can we serve? And how can we make a difference? This year has reminded us of the importance of family! How much family and these ties mean to us whether it's the amazing families that you're born into or your chosen family. Now more than ever we just feel how incredibly special that is. There's another reason why family is so big for us this year, we have an addition coming to our family early next year! We now have a deeper feeling of the drive to provide and give the very best to your kids, so with that in mind and because a hot meal is always at the center of Be A Blessing Day, we thought what if we can help families provide that very special holiday meal for their own homes and their kids. So that’s what we want to do this year!
So this year we will be setting up accounts with food service apps where families can go in, select the Foods items they want and we will pay for it online and have it shipped directly to their homes. So they'll be able to have a meal without having to worry about paying for it and without having to worry about going to the store and buying each item. They can spend that special time with their families and just have a nice hot meal. You all know that holiday meal is one of the most important parts of the holiday, being with family and enjoying that time is special.
So that's what we want to do this year and that's where we need your help. It's going to be a two-part that we need your help this year. First, of course is going to be with your donations. Every year for 8 years you guys have been supporting us and helping us by giving your donations and it has made a huge difference! And this year we still need your help, so that's the first part. Secondly we need help with nominating families! Please contact us directly through messenger to make your nominations! We will choose families at random, so hopefully all of the nominations we get and all of the donations we get will match up and we can help everyone!
We would like to thank every one of you for all the years that you've helped us! It's been eight years you've always have been amazing year after year! We cannot thank you enough!
