Over the past two years, we have prayerfully processed how God wants us to start our family, and have felt an unmistakable pull towards the adoption process. We are beyond excited to start this journey and wanted you to be one of the first to hear more about it! In our prayer and processing of this topic, we came across a verse in Psalm 68:5 where it says, “He (God), is a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows; and sets the lonely in families.” We were incredibly touched and convicted by this. If we are to best carry the name of our heavenly Father, how should we conduct ourselves? We love that God calls each and every one of us differently, and for us, adoption was the thing He has placed on our hearts. We know that there are many children in desperate need of families, and we are eager to answer that call.
As many of you know, the domestic infant adoption process can be an extremely expensive one. Since the beginning of our marriage, we have placed financial stewardship and generosity as a core value of our relationship and family. We have spent the past year saving up and have already invested thousands of dollars into this process. Our goal is to start our family on a solid foundation, including a debt-free adoption.
The adoption process as a whole can cost upwards of $45,000. This includes all legal, travel and processing fees. A portion of the expense is utilized to support the birth mother through education, medical support, housing, and training to ensure she is loved and supported as she carries the child and beyond. These mothers are making a courageous and challenging decision to keep the pregnancy and place the child in a loving and God-centered home. You can also play a crucial part of giving this child a home.
We are beyond excited to start our family, and after completing our home study we can be matched with an expectant birth mom in a matter of just a couple months. We are working diligently, saving, applying for adoption grants, tax credits, and exploring other avenues to generate funds so we can accomplish this. Even after all of this, we will still need support to pull this off! If you could prayerfully consider your role in making this dream a reality, we would be so eternally grateful. We completely understand that not everyone may be able to contribute financially at this time. However, we would still greatly appreciate your prayer and encouragement. We know that God’s hand is in this, and we are trusting Him to lead us every step of the way. Thank you for being a special part of our lives and our journey to start our family through adoption!
