The Halcyon Suite, RVI, Newcastle

On Wednesday 6th April Katie and Alasdair's beautiful baby boy,  Arthur William, was born sleeping at 39 weeks and 6 days. He was perfect in every way, weighing in at 9lbs 3.5 oz with not a mark on him. 

 

 

 

Katie & Alasdair have been overwhelmed by the support given to them by the staff at the Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary's Maternity Ward. Both Katies & Alasdair could not have wished for more love and kindness from the amazing staff who have gone above and beyond to make this heartbreaking time as bearable as possible.

 

The Halcyon Suite in Newcastle is a little room in the Maternity Ward away from the noise of the main ward. The Halcyon Suite has allowed them to spend much needed time with Arthur, and family to try to begin to come to terms with tragic events. This allowed them to say goodbye to their gorgeous boy in their own time and with their other two boys, Freddie & Issac. The room contains a  hospital bed, sofa and a little kitchenette. This provided Katie & Alasdair with their own little bubble until Katie had recovered enough to come home. 

 

Katie, Alasdair and the boys would love to be able to give something back to the ward by raising money to donate to the RVI's maternity ward directly. This will support the refurbishment of the room to make it more comfortable for families in similar situations in future.

 

Arthur will always be in their thoughts and they can't think of a more appropriate way to honour his memory.
