Ankata (Let's go, in Dioula)/

I was born in a developing country, Burkina Faso, the Land of Integre Men, in the town of Bobo-Dioulasso. My name is Serge Aimé Coulibaly.

As a dancer and choreographer, I've had the chance to travel the world, and the Faso Danse Théâtre I founded is now internationally renowned company.

How can I go further to help my country emerge and develop, with gratitude and inventiveness? How can I enable new, young African artists to carve out their own path, by giving them access to an international network and letting them benefit from my experience?

The Ankata project, (“Let's go” in the Dioula language), an International Laboratory for Research, Creation and Production in the Performing Arts, began in 2011 in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.

Starting modestly in the courtyard of my house, my team and I have succeeded over the past thirteen years, through ambitious and bold work, in creating an artistically and financially independent organization that offers a comprehensive three-year training course for young artists, and organizes a pan-African solo choreographic competition every two years: “Africa Simply the best”.

For several years, all my royalties and most of my income have been dedicated to running and building Ankata.

But to become a cultural reference in Africa, Ankata needs your support. Every donation counts. Thanks to a substantial initial investment, the foundations have been laid, the administrative offices are under construction, and the first dressing rooms are beginning to appear.

Today, we're aiming to raise €75,000 to..:

• Provide a home for artists in residence.

• Equipe rehearsal rooms.

•Create a friendly, stimulating environment.

Make Ankata financially independant
Organize events to promote Burkinabe culture internationally.

Je suis né dans un pays en développement, le Burkina Faso, le Pays des Hommes Intègres, dans la ville de Bobo-Dioulasso. Je m’appelle Serge Aimé Coulibaly.

Danseur, chorégraphe, j’ai eu la chance de sillonner la planète et Faso Danse Théâtre que j’ai créée jouit aujourd’hui d’une renommée internationale.

Comment aller plus loin pour faire émerger et développer mon pays en faisant preuve de gratitude et d’inventivité, comment permettre à de nouveaux et jeunes artistes africains de tracer leur propre chemin en leur donnant accès à un réseau international, en les faisant profiter de mon expérience ?

Le projet Ankata, ("Allons-y" en langue dioula), Laboratoire International de Recherche, de Création et de Production des Arts de la Scène, s’est élevé des 2011 à Bobo-Dioulasso, au Burkina Faso.

En commençant modestement dans la cour de ma maison, mon équipe et moi avons réussi depuis treize ans grâce à un travail ambitieux et audacieux à créer un organisme artistiquement et financièrement indépendant, qui propose une formation complète de trois ans à de jeunes artistes, qui organise un concours chorégraphique panafricain de solos tous les deux ans : « Africa Simply the best ».

Depuis plusieurs années, tous mes droits d'auteur et la plupart de mes revenus sont dédiés au fonctionnement et à la construction d'Ankata.

Mais pour devenir une référence de la culture en Afrique, Ankata a besoin de votre soutien. Chaque don compte. Grâce à un investissement initial important, les fondations sont posées, les bureaux administratifs sont en cours de construction, et les premières loges commencent à voir le jour.
