Support me in my autism advocacy!
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Amythest! I am an Autistic and multiply disabled writer, artist, public speaker, advocate, and activist. I blog about disability and Autism at my blog, and I produce and host a video series called "Ask an Autistic" on my Youtube channel. I am a member of the ASAN Vancouver chapter and am involved in disability and autistic activism and social justice.
I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do what I do, and the support of my readers, followers, and viewers has been humbling and encouraging. My dream is that one day our world will be fair, inclusive, and safe for all people with disabilities, and that one day a/Autistic people will have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else, and that we will be accepted for who we are. I reach a lot of parents, families, educators, and professionals with my videos and writings, but I want to do more!
Donations from generous supporters have enabled me to buy a new camera, a better microphone, and umbrella lights to improve the quality of my videos. I've also been able to attend the Inclusion BC "Tides of Change" conference, and the financial support has also funded my involvement and in Vancouver ASAN's protest against the 2014 Autism Speaks walk and ASAN's 2015 Disability Day of Mourning vigil , which led to ASAN making the front page of the New Westminster Leader with our message of justice and disability rights. Thank you so much!
Since my autism advocacy and activism is is my "full time job", but is not something that I am paid for, donations to my GoFundMe campaign also enable me to keep doing the work I love and be more financially secure. Since I am multiply disabled and chronically ill, there are regular expenses (like my pain relief and blood pressure medications) and incidental expenses (like ambulance rides, the purchase of mobility aids or assistive deices, maintenance of my wheelchair, etc.) that a part of my GoFundMe donations also go towards. This also enables my advocacy efforts, since a relatively healthy, not-dead Amythest is a happier and much more productive Amythest!
If you enjoy my work, have found my videos helpful, or would like to support me in my future advocacy and activism endeavours and public speaking opportunities, please consider donating and enabling me to do more.
Thank-you so much!
