Hello, my name is Inas Hamada, I am 21 years old and I am from the Shuja'iyya neighborhood in Gaza City. I started studying Information Technology and Graphic Design at the University College of Science and Technology, but the cursed war quickly came and destroyed my dreams, destroyed my university, and stopped everything I dreamed of. I wanted to become an international graphic designer, but the war shattered my dreams and made me carry worries and responsibilities greater than my age. Since the bombing of our house, I lost my laptop and I don't have any money to buy another one. I enjoyed beautiful days in a beautiful home. Our simple life was completely destroyed when our house was bombed on October 27, 2023. We lost everything we had. We also lost many loved ones in this terrible war, including my father, mother, my brother Abd, Abd's children, my brother Muhammad, his wife, and their infant child who was born on October 9, 2023, the third day of the war. This baby did not enjoy their rights as any newborn child and suffers from malnutrition due to famine and lack of food, living with us through the life of war, fear, and displacement.
Our first displacement was to the Christian School in Tel al-Hawa. By the grace of God, we miraculously survived after the school's surroundings were bombed in a single moment with more than 50 barrel bombs. We all suffered varying injuries. What we went through at that moment felt like the resurrection. I can't believe we are still alive. I wish to find a safe life for me and my family in a safe place. The school was destroyed upon us without warning, and we emerged alive from under the rubble. Then we were displaced to Al-Shifa Hospital, which was also bombed and besieged while we were inside. The occupation forces then took us to the southern Gaza Strip by sea.
After witnessing many encounters with death in northern Gaza, we were displaced to Khan Yunis to a school. After two months, the school was warned, and we went to Rafah. After living without shelter for 7 days in the streets of Rafah, we now live in a tent. Living in a tent with children is not easy. Hunger, thirst, cold, and fear threaten my family's lives, which led to a nearby explosion near the tent. My brother's son, Amir, was playing in front of the tent and was injured in his head. He underwent surgery to remove shrapnel from his head, which cost $500, and the medication cost $450, but it is not available here. Amir needs to travel to complete his treatment and recover. Amir has the right to enjoy a happy life and to play like any child in the world.
We lack medical supplies, drink polluted water, do not have enough food, and suffer from famine in the Gaza Strip, which exacerbates our suffering. The war has been devastating, and we face unimaginable difficulties. We fear an imminent invasion by the Israeli army. I am asking for your help to get my family across the Egyptian border to safety before the invasion.
What is required: The cost of travel to Egypt through Yahla Travel and Tourism is $5000 per person. We are a family of 12 people: myself, my sister Ro'a (16 years old), my brother Yazan (12 years old), my mother (45 years old), my father (50 years old), my brother Abd (30 years old), his wife (26 years old), and their children "Mervat (9 years old), Hamada (8 years old), Amir (4 years old)," and my brother Muhammad (28 years old), his wife Aya (25 years old), and their child Youssef, who was born during the war and is 8 months old.
Saving our family means overcoming financial and bureaucratic challenges. The costs of safe passage to Egypt and obtaining the necessary legal documents are enormous obstacles that we cannot overcome on our own. The opportunity for evacuation to a safe place looms, but the path forward is fraught with obstacles. To safely cross the Rafah border and reach Egypt, each adult must pay $5000, and those under 16 years old must pay $2500. The increased number of transfers from Rafah to Egypt, with an increase of $5000, and $2500 for those under 16. The costs of transportation from Rafah to Egypt have increased significantly during the ongoing war.
When we arrive in Egypt, we will also need to secure housing and purchase basic necessities to furnish our living space, such as mattresses, and buy a new laptop so that I can continue my studies. While our intention is to secure work and become self-sufficient, it would be extremely helpful if we could cover the costs of rent and living expenses for a few months while we process the trauma we have endured.
My close friend from Belgium, Ibrahim El-Masry, has offered to help me withdraw the funds from this crowdfunding campaign and ensure that we receive them. The donated funds will be used to complete the registration process with the travel agency, cover the associated fees, and cover our living expenses in Egypt.
Through GoFundMe, your contribution is a lifeline for my family. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference in our lives. You can be the reason for our happiness, restore our hope, and rebuild a safe haven for my family.
