Support InterAct: Family Violence Prevention

Hello. My name is Matt Bullard, and I am raising funds for InterAct, an organization in Wake County with an incredible mission.

“Dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic and sexual violence in Wake County, InterAct saves lives, rebuilds lives, and secures safer futures for victims and survivors and their families.”

I am raising funds in honor of my late mother, Alice Bullard, who passed away on September 30th, 2022. In her honor, I will be running the City of Oaks Marathon on November 2nd, 2025, which is also her birthday. All funds raised will be donated to InterAct.

InterAct’s mission is very personal to me. At a young age, around 15 I think, my mother was assaulted. As horrible as an assault is, what happens afterward can be just as important.

Does anyone believe you? Do you have support? Does the perpetrator face any consequences? That’s what I love so much about InterAct, is they help answer those questions at a time when many victims have nowhere to turn. For anyone who doesn’t know, my mother Alice took her own life after struggling with depression and other forms of mental illness all her life. I can’t help but wonder if her story would have ended differently had she been able to access a resource like InterAct in her time of need.

Despite these challenges, she had a successful career as a case manager for both adult and child protective services. Helping those most vulnerable when they had nowhere to turn. She provided for me and made sure I never went without a day in my life. She was powerful when needed, and caring when it mattered. I miss her very much and want to raise these funds in her honor so that they may help someone who is going through what she went through. I know that’s what she would have wanted.
