We want to make this interesting! Yes, we are asking for donations to fund our adoption, but we agree to entertain you with a video of ourselves doing silly activities or stunts for every $500 raised! We could run a marathon, we could make T-shirts, but we thought a laugh or even a smile would be worth more! And if we make our goal, I think we may still run a marathon!
But, you may be interested in our back story. This is us when we were leaving to get our new baby in 2013.
We were excited and full of hope, but as many adoptions stories end, ours ended in heartache. We were matched with a birthmother, went through the entire process of domestic adoption. During the revocation period, after we had custody of the beautiful baby girl, the birthmother exercised her right to take her baby back. It is hard to describe the loss and pain that we have experienced from that journey. It has been almost a year and half since then, and only now are we even capable of trying this again.
Adopting is very hard. There is no way around it. Emotionally, financially, all the red tape, the duration. There is nothing easy about it. But the fact remains that there are suffering and starving children in our own country. There is no shortage of babies and children that need loving, supportive, and secure homes. And we feel that we want to provide that opportunity for a child and grow our family with adoption. There are especially a shortage of families open to adopting African American and biracial children. There is a need. We can supply the love, we can supply the security, we can supply the support. But we can't supply all the funds needed to complete an adoption.
