Addition for Adoption

The Short Version
We have adopted two children through foster care over the last few years, but feel a calling to not stop there. We'd like to adopt two more children. The problem is that in the state of Wisconsin we are required to have more square footage in our home to do this. So we need to raise money to build an addition for our adoption. If only 2,500 people donate $10 we'll reach our goal. Will you donate $10 and join our journey?

The Long Version
About five years ago we started on a journey to adopt a child through foster care. Why? We looked around our Milwaukee home and said "we have room and we have love, let's do this!" Along the journey we lost some children placed in our home for adoption, they went back to their families, with much heart break. But one day we got another phone call to adopt Jaden. Later we found out he had a biological sister named Summer that might need a home too! Through many twists and turns, through sleepless nights and heartfelt prayers, through tears and laughter Jaden and Summer are officially Goodin's.



We've since moved from the city to a small farm where the kids can run free, climb trees and we even have chickens and goats. We went through a lot along the journey as I'm sure you can image adopting a five and six year old who spent most of their lives in foster care. It was our faith and the support of family and friends that sustained us. Well, we've gotten quite settled over the last few years and recently our kids started asking when are we going to adopt more kids. Out of the mouths of babes, right? We've found that our kids usually lead the way when it comes to courage and a willingness to sacrifice. They often push us out of our comfort zone. But honestly our lives, our hearts and our souls have always been a bit uncomfortable with comfortable. Just when we start to enjoy a life of comfort, that still small voice starts nudging us to begin another impossible journey.



Our hobby farm includes a small farmhouse. The farmhouse and bedrooms were just big enough to be approved by the state for 6 people, so we could move to the farm and finalize our adoption of Summer & Jaden. Downsizing our house seemed like a good trade off at the time for 12 acres of space the kids could run and play on. And trust us, they do....every single day seems to hold a new adventure. And the farm itself, the animals, the responsibility of daily chores has brought so much healing and growth in Jaden & Summer that we KNOW this is where we are supposed to be. Our hearts are filled to overflowing thinking of the impact the farm could have on 2 more children, not to mention the joys their presence will bring to our lives. In order to be licensed to adopt 2 more kids, we need more square feet overall and more bedroom space. Currently our farmhouse bedrooms have the minimum space required for 2 children in each. SO, to bring more children into our forever home we need to add an addition. We are asking for people to join us in this leap of faith to add an Addition For Adoption. We are going to need $50,000 dollars. We pledge to invest half of that ourselves but need your help for the 2nd half. If we raise this money, we promise to have a website to share the rest of the journey from the building of the addition to getting children and finally the adoption. * Barn Yard Bash Raffle does not include cost of travel to get to the farm. It will include a meal with BBQ meats, beans, macaroni and cheese, a green salad and drinks. There are goats, chickens and ponies which are great for kids. We can also do a campfire and s'mores.
