Long Island needs your help.
Hi, I'm Michael - probably better known as Face. I'm the owner of a store called AON Gaming. If you like video games and live on or near Long Island, you might already know about us.
Recently, our store has been forced to close by the town. The Fire Marshal made an unexpected visit to our location while responding to a nearby Carbon Monoxide emergency. Despite 4 years of successfully and happily running our business with no issues, and despite providing a community center for like minded gamers on the island, the Fire Marshal found a technicality to shut us down. Due to this obscure zoning requirement and the nature of the building we were in, the town no longer allows us to operate at our current location.
So it seems that there are two options - let the town have their way and give up...or press onward with our dream. We at AON want to provide the biggest and best experience for people that like games, and if our old space can't do that, then we'll have to get a new one! But a new space will require starting over from scratch, or close to it. Sadly, it's not as simple as finding a nice spot, signing the paperwork, and dragging-and-dropping the current store to the new place. Instead, a new space will require renovations, updates to the infrastructure, new equipment, proper zoning, and more. This will be a costly endeavor.
But that's where you come in.
I know that there are hundreds and maybe thousands of people that enjoyed spending time at AON. I want this gofundme to be an opportunity for people to express that enjoyment. It hurts to ask for help, but we can't give up the dream. I know that Long Island has the capability to become the best place in the world for gamers to gather, and so I hope that we can all work together to give Long Island the home it deserves.
And so, I'm asking for your help to assist in the costly process of moving to a new venue. This process will cost an estimated $15,000, possibly more depending on the condition of the new building. We have some leads, but just about any place will require expensive electrical work to be done, plus expensive legal fees to make sure we are zoned properly, among other things. I am humbly asking for less than what is required to get AON 2.0 up and running, and with your help, we can overcome this setback. We've got some really big plans for the new building, and I hope to see them come to light.
AON Gaming began 4 years ago with a Kickstarter campaign. Much has changed since then, but one thing remains: AON will always be a community by the players, for the players. In that sense, AON isn't so much a store as it is a family. If you consider yourself a part of that family, please consider supporting if you can. Every bit will help us get to our goal. Hopefully we can quickly get back to doing what we do best: providing a community center for all to enjoy.
