Aston le Walls is a small village of approximately 300 people where the only meeting place is the village hall. With no shop, pub or bus service the village hall is a vital part of the community for all our members. Its usages include parish meetings, quiz nights, produce show, talks, lunches and various clubs (craft, coffee mornings, film, fitness, toddlers etc.) it is also used as the local polling station.
Current Village Hall, built 1973
The existing village hall is constructed from precast concrete panels with a felt / GRP roof and UPVC windows and doors. It has been identified as needing replacement due to poor construction with little or no insulation. It suffers from damp, over heating in the summer and being very cold in the winter. There is also no disabled or easy push chair access.
New Village Hall, to be built in 2024 / 25
The village hall committee have been able to secure first stage community funding for about 30% of the cost of replacing the hall.
The new design will be built using modern materials and with level access from the pavement. It will have a modern kitchen and WC’s. The overall design will also be in keeping with the aesthetics of the village and surrounding buildings.
Rebuild Cost Target £250,000
