Please Help This Family Reunite!

Friends and Family of the Davidson Family, they need our help to reunite! They're scrappy fighters and are not the type to ask for help so we've asked for permission to get the word out. Perhaps you've been following Tara's blog about their extraordinarily brave and inspiring decision to follow a shared dream to sell everything they own and sail to America with their two teenagers. Shortly after setting sail, the pandemic hit and the sh** hit the fan...or the sails, in their case. We are hoping that all the good love and karma they have thrown us all over the years can help them now.
What was supposed to take a year has taken three. They sold their home and possessions to make this epic voyage and their original budget is now busted. After being stuck in Grenada for a year because no other country would have them due to the pandemic, Tara flew home to San Diego to take a job and get their girls stabilized while Chris sailed to Ensenada where he and Lucky have had to remain due to his immigration status as an Australian citizen (the US immigration system is broken and beyond backlogged). In the meantime, this family is separated. They now need to bring Lucky to San Diego so she can be put up for sale so they can start over, but the cost to do this without Chris being able to Captain Lucky here is unattainable for them right now.
If you have the means, please consider doing what you can for them. This is a special family who freely give of themselves to others even when they are struggling themselves. We are hoping that their loving karma can be nudged so it will come around for them now! This family needs to be reunited. Every little bit matters!
Please read Tara's abbreviated account of the situation below:
"On 22 Oct 2019, we officially lodged Chris’s Green Card application which would give him legal residency status to live and work in America. At the time, we were told by the US Department of Immigration the processing time was 9-15 months.
We made the decision to sell or give away everything we owned in Australia to buy a yacht and sail the Caribbean whilst waiting for the Paperwork to be processed. We budgeted for the time out of work when deciding what boat to buy. We invested our life savings into this move to America.
Sailing together as a family was a dream we had since we got married and moving to the States so I could be closer to my family after moms passing was a big factor in our making such a big move. Almost three years later, we are still waiting. The pandemic closed down embassies around the world, keeping us in limbo.
We always planned to sell the boat to make home in San Diego, but as it stands, SV Lucky is Chris’s home. We have been separated since April 2021 as I needed to seek employment because our funds were deteriorating and it was time to get the girls grounded. We are at a point where we have to sell Lucky and get her sold quickly and at highest dollar. We need to get her to San Diego from Ensenada. The last hop.
Ideally Chris would Captain the boat to San Diego but because of the outstanding Green Card Chris does not have and as he is unable to obtain the correct visa, a B1/B2 is required to enter by sea. So to hire a captain, pay for berthing and the flight for Chris to fly into America to visit with his ESTA, we need to secure the following:
- Berth in SD
- Hire a Captain
- Ground transport
- Flight costs
- Possible accommodation for Chris
Money we don’t have at this point in time. Sadly.
I can’t believe I am writing this and that we are in this situation. We have done our best to keep it all going, and not be a burden - our families have all assisted us emotionally and financially, we can’t ask for more. We are at a road block. We must sell Lucky, but don’t have the funds in the back pocket to make this last maneuver."
