On what seemed like an ordinary night, a beautiful, happy 9-year-old girl got into the backseat of a car driven by her mother, with a close family friend in the passenger seat. In the blink of an eye, everything changed.

A tragic, preventable single car accident claimed the lives of both her mother and the family friend. Miraculously, this brave 9-year-old survived—but with life-altering injuries. She was pinned in the wreckage, and during her rescue, it was discovered she had lost a foot. She was rushed to a trauma center in Las Vegas, where she continues to recover.

A Father's Worst Nightmare

In Reno, her father—Alvin—received the call no parent should ever get. His daughter had survived a devastating crash. Her mother had not. He caught the next flight to Las Vegas and hasn’t left her side since.

A Loving, Vibrant Girl With a Long Road Ahead

Before the accident, our little cousin was a bubbly, energetic 9-year-old with a bright spirit and contagious joy. While her journey forward will be challenging, we believe she will thrive again—with time, love, and support.

She will need extensive care: physical therapy, a prosthetic limb, trauma counseling, and a full support system as she learns to live in a new way.

A Family Business on Hold

Chef Alvin, as he is known to his customers, recently launched a successful food truck and catering business in Reno—a family-run operation with help from his wife, Jennifer Young, and stepdaughters. Since the accident, the business has been completely paused. The entire family has rallied around this little girl, prioritizing her healing above all else.

With no income coming in, the financial strain is real.
