Clean Drinking Water For Kids
Donation protected
Many people ask me how I got started with this project... Many of you know that my daughter and I traveled to Tanzania for the first time in January 2016 and volunteered at a baby rescue centre known as Neema Village. In the fall of of that same year I traveled back to Tanzania as a tourist. I had the privilege of delivering a single water filter with a friend to his longtime friend Ngoidema.
Ngoidema was paralyzed as a young boy when he fell out of a tree. I couldn't believe the conditions in which he and his family lived. I couldn't believe the water they drank. It was pond water; the same water that the cows and goats drank from and defecated in.
Although all my experiences in Tanzania impacted my perspective on life...it was in this moment I truly realized that I could not walk away from these children and their need for something most of us take for granted...clean drinking water.
I traveled back home and began sharing my story and the great need these families have for clean drinking water. My friends, family and church were supportive from the get go. My goal of raising funds for 50 Water Filter Systems was met quickly.
In May of 2017 I traveled back to Tanzania and delivered 50 Water Filter Systems to 50 remote Arusha Region families, many of whom were relatives of Ngoidema.
I made plans to fund raise for 50 more systems and delivered them in February 2018. It was a great relief to learn that the previous filters we delivered were effective and providing clean drinking water.
I fundraised for 100 more filter systems and in November 2018 delivered these systems to 100 families to the north of Arusha. Unfortunately, the need is so great and we always run out of filter systems before families.
That being said...God has blessed this project. With the remaining funds from the fall 2018 fundraiser I was able to send 110 more systems to be delivered in February 2019 by my project partner and local Maasai contact.
100% of the money raised goes towards the cost of the filters, buckets, local wages and petrol.
Please watch for more fundraising efforts.
To date 450 have been delivered. In February 2020 my goal is to deliver 400 more water filter systems. I'm 2/3 of the way there.
If you support this project...thank you! It wouldn't be possible without you. @ Arusha, Tanzania
