Ghana Schools Project

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am fundraising for a really exciting project with the charity Ankoma Outreach. I am a teacher and Geography Subject Lead at Montalbo Primary School in Barnard Castle, UK. I am undertaking an exciting project for our school by making links with a community and the schools in Ankoma, Ghana! In February 2026, I will visit Ghana for two weeks as a volunteer, learning more about their education system and developing links with Montalbo Primary School. This is part of a project ran by Ankoma Outreach which has three main aims: to improve education, sanitation and health care. While I am there I will be undertaking various tasks including some teaching, renovating classrooms and delivering resources to the community. There will some wonderful opportunities for our children to learn more about Ghana as well as develop relationships with the children, their families and the schools themselves. This will also be an incredible experience for myself personally and my own development as a teacher. As part of this project, I am fundraising to contribute towards the associated costs and to raise money for the Ankoma Outreach Charity. The money raised will go towards the costs of the flights, travel insurance, visa and vaccinations which total about £1000. The remainder I would like to donate to the charity themselves and hope to match fund another £1000.
