Tyler & Cait Jordan have 3 beautiful children, Faith (7), Hunter (3), and Tannen (1). Tyler started feeling sick in April of this year. After several months of tests and surgeries, Tyler was diagnosed with silicosis on August 12th. Silicosis is a long-term lung disease caused by inhaling large amounts of crystalline silica dust. Silica is a substance naturally found in certain types of stone, rock, quartz, sand and clay. Working with these materials can create a fine dust that can be easily inhaled. Tyler had been in and out of his family's granite & quartz countertop business since he was 7 years old and started working at the business in June of 2012. After his diagnosis, his doctors advised him to stop working immediately, especially in that environment. At 28 years old, he has a long road ahead of him. Tyler and Cait had to switch family roles immediately. Cait is well educated, she went to school while she was home with the kids and earned a BA degree and took an additional two years of business school. She was prepared for the day she returned to work, but neither of them were prepared for it to come so sudden. Within a week of his diagnosis, Cait went to work, and Tyler became a stay at home Dad. Living here in Colorado and the high prices of everything, it is hard to make ends meet even when both parents are working. Tyler and Cait are waiting on workman's comp and struggling day to day. I will do everything in my power to help this family! Tyler is someone I have come to know well thru my kitchen and bath showroom. He is one of the best humans I know and I think the world of him, Cait, and their family. Let's join together as a community to support this family and help them thru this hard time.
