Hello my name is Lori Lake, I’m starting this GoFundme for my granddaughter Amanda Lake for her attorney fees. She is in the process of getting her son Liam back by terminating the guardianship currently in place. Guardianship is currently granted to the paternal grandmother.

Amanda, unfortunately, has made some bad choices in her life. However, she has lived and learned just all of us. She had a baby boy and she did what she thought was best for him at the time by signing limited guardianship to the paternal grandmother. The grandmother is resisting to relinquish the guardianship to Amanda.

Amanda came back home to California with the clothes on her back to a family who welcomed her with open arms. She went into a detox and rehabilitation house in Costa Mesa, California. She successfully has worked at getting clean without the crutch of any medications. She attended numerous meetings daily during the time she was in the rehabilitation house. Once Amanda left the rehabilitation house, she then moved into a Sober Living home for 30 more days. She was drug tested twice a week and breathalyzed nightly.

She then went to live with her mother and began attending sober support meetings once to twice a day that she walked 1 ½ miles each way. She got a job at Raising Cane’s and worked there until she moved to Anaheim to live with me.

Amanda moved into my home as she continues to go to sober support meetings in Lake Forest. She got a job at Krispy Kreme and has maintained continuous employment. Amanda has also attended Eastside Christian Church Celebrate Recovery and received her 6 Month Chip there in addition to her sober support group. Amanda, as of today (06/03/2023) has been sober from all mind-altering substances for a total of 460 consecutive days.

Amanda Face Times Liam, her son, weekly and she went to Hawaii for 5 days and got to see him twice for 2 hours. During this time, Amanda was being observed by a Therapist and the Therapist also agrees that Amanda is very attentive and was an overall a positive visit both times with Liam. We are fighting what feels like an uphill battle with the current guardian of Liam and would like to gain some support.

With the advice of Amanda’s attorney, she is now also taking weekly lab drug tests as well as having a court card signed at her sober support meetings. The attorney, should everything go well and according to plan, will be a total of $12,000. With everyone’s support, God willing, we will be able to win this case with the assistance of the hired attorney and bring Amanda’s baby boy back home to live and be raised by his mother.
