Hi, my name is Candy B and I am a single parent of a three year old son. For the past six years, I have relied on my trusty purple bicycle for transportation to all of my responsibilities. My bike is essentially my car, and I use it every day: it helps me travel in a safe, efficient, affordable, and healthy way. I use my bike throughout the year, including in the rain and snow. And because of my son's personal needs, our bike is a better option to travel that is more suitable for his wellness.

I use my bike to travel to medical appointments, employment opportunities, social gatherings, and all other commitments. I have continued to use my bicycle since becoming a new parent, and I rely on using my bicycle to travel far distances to support my child, such as his own medical appointments and travel to daycare and now school.

Unfortunately, my beloved bicycle broke down last week. I brought it to my local repair shop, who have tried to fix the bike but sadly, they have declared it unsafe for use for long distances and for transporting my son as the structure is now weakened. I want to purchase a new bicycle from the same shop, which originally cost $1020, but is now on sale for $725. The bicycle costs a bit more than my old bike both because of inflation and because the frame of this bicycle is aluminum, which will be more weather-durable throughout all seasons and for a much longer time. I am also hoping to fundraise for additional costs related to the bicycle, such as taxes, installation fees, and purchasing a kickstand and a basket

I am planning to try to raise funds for a new bicycle by selling the old bicycle that is no longer suitable for my use, so that someone can still use the parts. With all this said, I am in need of funds to purchase a new bike to support my family in our day-to-day needs, and wanting to reach out to our community for support with this if it's possible.

I wanted to share that any supplemental funds raised will go to purchasing new books and technology to support mine and my son's needs as he enters school in this new phase of life.
