Greetings All,
I hope this message finds you well during this holiday season. My name is Patrick, and I find myself reaching out to you with a heavy heart, seeking your assistance for my family in a time of dire need.
We reside in Vermont, the proud owners of a historic farmhouse, a place filled with memories and stories that have spanned generations. Unfortunately, over the last 15 years, our lives have been marred by a series of challenges that have left us on the brink of homelessness.
Our journey began when I had to close down my software business to become a full-time caregiver for my ailing mother in New Jersey. After her passing, we returned to Vermont just as the world was grappling with the onset of COVID-19. I took up a remote customer support job, but the meager income wasn't enough to cover our basic needs.
During our time away, our farmhouse fell into disrepair, and upon our return, we discovered that it had become a habitat for wildlife, compounding the damage caused by neglect. Water damage rendered the house uninhabitable, and our son, who is both autistic and a cardiac patient, could not be exposed to such conditions.
In an effort to provide a safe environment for our son, we rented a small house and later qualified for state housing. However, due to job loss, we found ourselves living in a trailer at a campground. The constant challenges persisted as I lost my job and struggled to keep up with expenses, leading us to the brink of homelessness.
As of October 2023, my unemployment insurance ran out, and despite tirelessly sending out nearly 1000 job applications, I have yet to secure employment. We are now at a critical juncture where we face the imminent threat of living in our car full time, losing our home to a tax auction, and having our belongings auctioned due to missed payments.
Our immediate need is to raise $1500 by December 16th to prevent the auction of our storage unit, which contains essential items salvaged from our house. A total goal of $7500 will help secure the storage, prevent our car from being repossessed, and contribute towards property tax redemption.
Your generosity could be the lifeline that pulls us back from the precipice of despair. We understand that this is a challenging time for many, but any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a significant impact on our struggle for stability.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support not only provides financial assistance but also instills hope and warmth during what should be a joyous holiday season.
Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous 2024.
With gratitude,
Patrick, Marie, and Patrick R.
