Rebuilding Hope After a Devastating House Fire

Late last night, tragedy struck when my brother James and his family's home went up in flames due to an oil heater. In an instant, their world was turned upside down.

James, his partner Rochelle, and their three beautiful children Zayne (7), Izaiah (9), and Ava-Leigh managed to escape the fire, but not without serious injuries. All five suffered burns, with James and little Zayne sustaining the most critical.

James and Rochelle were rushed to The Alfred Hospital, while Zayne and Isaiah were taken to the Royal Children's Hospital. James is now in ICU with severe burns across his body and deep cuts to his arms. Zayne is also in ICU with third-degree burns to his face, hands, and feet he is in a critical condition. Izaiah and Rochelle have third-degree burns as well but are in stable condition.

Their youngest, Ava-Leigh, thankfully only suffered minor burns to her face and is now recovering with family.

This young family has lost their home, their belongings, and their sense of safety all in a single night. Doctors have said it will be a long and painful road to recovery for all of them, both physically and emotionally.
