Hi my name is Gemma and I would like to share my story, describe why I am here and the importance around my Go Funding.
On Sunday 12th May 2024, having had my parents stay over the previous night. I was woken at 5am by my dad, who explained he and my mum would be leaving due to mum feeling unwell. I got out of bed and helped my parents pack their vehicle. It was clear to me that my mum was struggling and I suggested to ring an ambulance. After going through the questions with the 999 operator and explaining that my mum was showing the symptoms of a heart attack, I was told an ambulance could be several hours as the service was under demand. On recieving this information I made the decision to drive my mum to the hospital. However as we got to my drive my poor mum collapsed and was now experiencing a cardiac arrest. I began CPR whilst a further 999 call was made. My mum sadly passed away on my drive. I would like to raise funds to have a defibrillator placed within the immediate community that I live.
Every minute that a person in Sudden Cardiac Arrest does not receive defibrillation, their chances of survival drop by 7-10%, making rapid defibrillation imperative for survival and one of the key steps in saving a life from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
I wasn't able to save my mum on Sunday and now I am living with the immense pain of coming to terms with that and also losing my beautiful mum. Please if you can spare even just 1 pound it will go towards helping provide self saving intervention within the community.
