Leo's Legacy

Leo Abramov was a bright light who was taken from us far too soon, leaving stardust and rainbows in all our hearts and minds. As anyone who crossed paths with Leo will tell you, he was defined by his selflessness and open heart, and every interaction left you feeling important and cared for.

In June of 2022, Leo was diagnosed with Stage IV stomach cancer. While the diagnosis was devastating, Leo and his wife of only 9 months, Kerry, did their best to stay optimistic. Through months of chemo, side effects, pain, and uncertainty, Kerry and Leo strove to live full lives and enjoy the time they had together.

On March 9, 2023, as Kerry held him, this awful disease took Leo from us. He was 36 years old.

While we are all heartbroken by his absence, Kerry and his beloved stepdaughter Rozzie will continue the legacy of acceptance, openness, and love Leo left behind. Please help them to preserve his legacy and offset the cost of the medical expenses incurred during his treatment.

Funds raised will go directly to Kerry and will be used toward:

- A scholarship fund. Leo's team is reaching out to the Burlington Public Schools to try and set up a scholarship in his name for seniors who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community. As far as we can tell, this will be the first scholarship offered by the town specifically for LGBTQ+ students.

- The cost of Leo's hospital, hospice care, and various bills that his treatment made it hard to cover (duck cancer), and his memorial service (which will be scheduled to coincide with the annual Pride event he and Kerry founded and his birthday in June).

- A memorial bench installation in Leo's honor at the Burlington Town Common where Leo's Pride event takes place.

Any additional funds raised will be used at Kerry's discretion.
