Hello, I'm Alexandria Gay, but you can call me Lexi. I am daughter of Sandra Moss and Anthony Gay and granddaughter of Marshall & Sarah Moss and Carolyn Gay. I am a freshman at Valencia College majoring in biology with a concentration in veterinarian medicine. My dream is to become a wildlife veterinarian specializing in exotic animals. Many of you know I have faced a turbulent time since reaching my teen years when I was diagnosed with meningitis. That illness completely changed my youth from school buildings to doctor's offices. I spent days, weeks and months unable to function as a normal teen and my bedroom, books and art became my world. I longed for a normal life free from pain, stress and despair. I finished my high school years in 2.5 years when I was able to manage the residual migraines the disease left me. I thought my childhood dream was lost to me going through such a terrible disease but I am once again on that path!
I am raising money to fund a trip to South Africa to volunteer my time for
The Big 5 African & Wildlife Conservation Program to help endangered species: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and African buffaloes. On this trip I will spend 3 weeks in Lesotho, Africa in Southern Africa at the Kwantu Game Reserve where I will document, patrol and perform a census of the Big 5 animals there, plant trees and study the flora and fauna.
Your donation will help offset the cost of the trip including airlines and fees. The funds are needed by June 1, 2021. Your donation will help me continue the path of my dream: exotic wildlife veterinarian.
