Help me & my family get a home

Donation protected

I recently had to vacate my home because my landlord decided not to renew my lease and gave very short notice for us to vacate the house. I was not financially nor mentally prepared for this process and what it would do to my family and I. I especially could never fathom the costs this would bring me nor could I foresee that it would be nearly impossible to get out of this situation on my own. I for sure could not predict the damaging effects it would have on children in particular. They were not ready for things to change as rapidly as they did and definitely not ready to be uprooted with nowhere to go. My only option at the time was to find hotels to stay in because for me, giving up or living on the streets was never an option. As a single mom supporting them on only my income meant I was facing more than an uphill battle but more like a concrete wall. I had not planned to move in the next few years even, I had no savings or any secret store of money in case of the unexpected. I had to put our belongings into storage and we have survived with just the amount of things each of us could put into a bag. Myself and the 5 children are crammed into a less than 250 Sq ft hotel room with two beds and a pull out couch. This situation has torn us apart, caused immense stress, and has damaged the close bond we had with each other. We have improvised our cooking abilities and rely on a microwave, air fryer, and instant pot to cook any and everything we can throw together and call a meal. The hotel is also quite expensive, even with my healthcare workers discount. I really only imagined this to be a very short term situation but as it stands, we are into the 9th week of this. I definitely do not earn enough to afford the room and put aside money for the new place for us. I struggled to find a new rental unit and while I did finally find one, there is no way I can put together enough money to cover the deposit which is equivalent to two months rent, plus the first months rent to move in. This alone totals $7200. I also have to cover the costs for a U-Haul, the monthly fees for the storage units in addition to the normal gas, food, toiletries, other normal costs that we all have monthly, all on my single income taking care of the kids as a single mom. Even though I am an extremely hard worker and work more hours than a full time job calls for, I’m unable to find a way to set aside the substantial amounts of money needed to cover the initial rent and deposit fees. I have quickly come to realize that I cannot accomplish this on my own.

Your support means so much for us during this difficult time. We welcome with open arms any donation amount but also understand if you cannot financially support us. If you would, please share our page with friends/family/media platform/ etc who may be able to. Thank you so much for taking the time to read through our journey.
