Hello everyone!
We are Emily and Curtis Buckley and we welcome you to listen to our story. We met in July of 2014 and instantly knew we had something special! People liked to say that we moved fast but when it's right, it's right! We soon moved in together in October and it was off to the races.
By Christmas Curtis knew he had found the one his heart couldn't live without. We were engaged in April of 2015 and married in August of 2016. Our engagement was filled with the typical talks regarding what we wanted our family to look like in the next 10 years. We were set on growing our little family soon after we were married and couldn't wait to share our love with a couple kids. We are two people who have so much love for each other and still have so much love to give!
Fast forward to four years after our wedding and we weren't having any luck trying to conceive. We made the decision to reach out to doctors in hopes that we could get some answers as to why our dreams of starting our family seem to be on hold. Both of us went through various tests and checks and quickly found out our infertility wasn't on Curtis' end and Emily started going to a Women's Health Center. After a series of tests, we still had no answers and were referred to fertility specialists.
In continuing our search for answers, we soon landed in the waiting room of Dallas IVF with so many questions. We lucked out in being referred to a doctor who truly has a passion for helping those in matters of infertility as she herself has been down a similar road. Emily went and had an HSG test done and we immediately had an answer. She had some pretty significant blockage right where the ovaries and the fallopian tubes meet. The only hope of salvaging the tubes was a surgery intended to clear the scar tissue and open the them back up, allowing for a natural pregnancy. Our doctor made it clear that the possibilty of having to remove one or both of the tubes was very real.
October 15, 2021, the day our dreams were put on hold again. During the surgery this day our doctor found both tubes were not salvageable due to the amount of scar tissue and to leave the tubes would set us up for Ectopic Pregnancies and other potentially dangerous health risks. Obviously this was not the outcome we or the doctor was hoping for and we were all left feeling defeated, disappointed and a whole line-up of new questions about our options and where to go from here.
So here we are now, exploring different avenues, still trying to find a way for our dreams to come true. We've looked into loans and grants but we haven't yet found the right financial path for us. It may not come as a surprise that fertility treatments are sky high. The up front costs and cost of medication is absolutely mind boggling. We are hoping for a little help in building up a savings to reach our particular goal of a chance at growing our family. We have both had our reservations about starting a GoFundMe since asking for help typically doesn't come easily for either of us. If you would like to make a thoughtful donation to our fertility fund, no matter the size, we would be absolutely grateful.
We are constantly in awe of the amount of people who love us so well! Thank you for reading our story.
All the best,
The Buckleys
