Join me in welcoming Baby Wesley into the world!
Wesley made an early entrance into the world on December 17, 2020, weighing an itty bitty 1.9 lbs and only 12.5 inches long. (Check out the photo with his footprints next to mommy and Daddy's pinkies!) Although still in critical condition, Wesley is a strong fighter and is impressing medical staff daily! Wesley is not quite out of the woods, and a pretty significant NICU stay is anticipated for the near future.
While insurance is covering some of the hospital stay, at least at this time, Julia, an associate pastor at Gun Barrel Church of the Nazarene, and Matthew, an ammo specialist and reserve member for the Army, could still use some additional financial support for other necessities while Wesley is in NICU.
On a more personal note- I've know Julia for 8 years and over the last year or so have started getting to know her very well. Julia and Matthew are loving, generous, empathetic, and caring to everyone they encounter. The family has experienced several hardships over the last few years and any financial help, prayers and positive thoughts and vibes would be greatly appreciated!

Updates as of 2/23/21
On January 5, Wesley was life flighted from Greeneville to Plano for lifesaving medical treatment that could not be provided in Greenville. This treatment significantly had improved Wesley's condition.
Wesley is growing like crazy and now weighs 3 lbs and 10 oz! This week, staff will start trying to wean Wesley off oxygen to breath on his own! What a strong, mighty warrior! The entire Lexa family is full of fighters!
Julia has started spending her time crocheting octopus for other NICU babies, with a goal of 100 octopi to donate to the hospital! These octopi are great for giving premies something like an umbilical cord to grab onto that isn't a medical tube. Julia started learning to crochet in honor of her late sister, Jenny, who also crocheted. What an amazing way to honor her memory.
Julia and Matthew have had a few other hardships occur the last few week as well- during the storm the family had pipes burst in their basement and their home has experienced severe flooding. There have also been some reliability concerns with Matthews truck.
Any donations will assist with much needed funds for medical expenses, travel costs, food, home and auto repairs, etc to support this wonderful and generous family as they go through this extremely difficult time. Please consider donating and sharing to help provide much needed support.
