98 year old and special needs grandson need help

My grandmother, or as everyone knows her as Nan, is not being offered a new lease. She has already lost EVERYTHING in the flood of Ida and has been intimidated and harassed by landlords ever since. While she is 97 it is hard to move her. In addition, my brother is dying from End Stage Renal failure. This move may kill them. She is going to need assistance with legal fees and future rent if she even makes it that far. The landlords are pieces of work and she has always paid rent on time and way too much for a basement apartment that floods. If anyone chooses to help I appreciate it

My grandmother aka Nan has been a lifelong resident within the town she resides in, MAMARONECK NY. She doesn’t know anything but this town.  

The landlords gave her 60

days to get out. In a letter sent only 12 days before lease expired. They are constantly at the property. They didn’t even have the decency to give a heads up. They have played continuous games with her. She does NOT want to move and we are afraid the upcoming stress will have a terrible impact on her. 

She has no place to go. All relatives houses have too many stairs for her. She will go to court and try to get a judge to grant a stay. She is out of options and it breaks all our hearts that 2 grown men, landlords, would do this to a 97 year old and special needs adult. 

As many of you know this is a time of high rent and not enough rentals !  

She has no option but to fight this in court and hope her age and Johnnys medical condition will impact the court. 

She is NOT behind on rent. She is up to date. This fundraiser is to ensure that she gets proper representation in court as well as other necessary expenses that moving will cost. 

Nan has helped many. She has raised my brother since 13 after we lost both our parents in 11 months. My mother, Nan’s youngest daughter, died at a young age of 37. Nan has been there for my brother, as well as I, since 1983! She has been through so much and I only want to make the rest of her life happy!!

update! Landlord’s at last minute offered Nan a lease for just her and Johnny. I as raised to 2300$. Although they offered a lease it doesn’t allow a family member to live with them to help care for them. Even though the landlords are being ‘nice’ to her at this time we still believe she cannot stay there. She is constantly afraid when it rains! It was not landlords fault it flooded. We know this. Nan is getting old and still able to live in an apartment with Johnny, her disabled grandson who has Cerebral palsy and end stage renal failure.

I am constantly looking for a place that will allow 3 people to reside in. The stress of her knowing there are nights she will be alone has changed her.

family is not in any position to have her and Johnny move in. There is no room! Some live far away.

she cannot keep making her bills with a rent of $2300 plus electric, water and other monthly expenses that are needed for basic living!

this all did start very badly and she felt ambushed. Although some things have changed Nan and Johnny are even in greater need right now with the economy and new rent.

I understand landlords expenses went up to so I am not bashing them for the increase. Want all to understand that
