Prince George’s Mutual Aid is founded on the belief that neighbors should help neighbors, not only in times of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic, but all the time. We are people in community working to organize ourselves so that the needs of the people in the community can be met, divesting from dependence on the State and investing in hyperlocal integration and solidarity.

This is a grassroots, community-focused and leaderfull ecosystem for folks in the DC suburbs of Prince George's County, MD who are engaged in, or looking to plug into, mutual aid. No cops/ law enforcement/ defense contractors or active duty military- this is a purely grassroots community effort and we do not believe police keep us safe-- #WeKeepUsSafe. Many of our folks doing this work are parts of (several) marginalized groups, including immigrants, migrants, undocumented folks, formerly incarcerated, LGBTQIA++, unhoused folks, sex workers, youth, elderly, people of color, and others. We have a duty to keep them safe. We help our neighbors regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, income, religion, age, disability, national origin, incarceration status, housing status, and citizenship status. We prioritize the needs of marginalized communities who are often not served by existing structures.
In accordance with the theory of mutual aid, we share resources, skills, experience, knowledge, and ideas without perpetuating relationships based on hierarchical power. Everyone has something to give, and everyone needs help at times.
We believe:
- Health care is a human right, and must be accessible to all.
- Housing is a human right, and must be accessible to all.
- We believe that everyone should have access to healthy, nourishing food.
- People are more important than profits.
-Workers must have access to paid leave, overtime, and hazard pay, and have the right to organize.
- Equitable, wholistic education for all people is essential.
- The incarceration system is fundamentally wrong, and creates more problems than it solves.
- We support legal protections for undocumented and dacamented populations in our community and everywhere.
-Everyone should have access to healthy and affordable food options .
