My name is Louis Milano, I'm 40 and I live in Danbury, CT. I am a father of four beautiful children that I adore. My oldest is Louis who is 11 years old, he is intelligent, handsome and charming. Christopher is 10 years old, he's funny, good looking and inquisitive. My stepson Lucas is 10 years old, Lucas is athletic, witty and kind. Finally, there is my little angel, my daughter Vida who is 3 years old, she's the heart of our family her brothers adore her and shower her with love.
As I said, Lucas is my stepson and my wife Erica and I had Vida together. My oldest two boys are Louis and Chris from a previous marriage. I am in danger of losing these boys in court.
My marriage to my first wife ended badly, we had viscous divorce proceedings and multiple judgement's that changed the boys living arrangements. First, my ex-wife had primary custody and I would get the boys on weekends, while we alternated holidays. They lived only about forty minutes away.
Then, the bottom fell out and my ex-wife petitioned the court to relocate to South Carolina with the boys. There was an ugly trial and unfortunately my babies were dragged through it. In the middle of trial their mother moved to South Carolina without the kids.
The judge granted me temporary primary custody that day, the trial played out and the judge eventually granted me permanent physical custody. Their mom was granted about 8 weeks a year to take them South. My ex-wife appealed this decision and the case was brought to a higher court in NY State.
Yesterday (2/5/20) I learned the appeals court sided with my ex and if I do not act fast my kids will be moving over 800 miles away from me.
I'm here to protect my children, they belong with me, I'd never leave them behind and I am fighting for them to stay where they belong, in my care. I love my boys with all my heart and I've done nothing but cry since getting the court's decision, I'm truly heartbroken.
My children have excelled in school since moving with me, my oldest, Louis has won several academic accolades, including high honors and even got a letter from the Mayor of Danbury congratulating him on his achievements. Christopher has been growing as a student, is popular and is really becoming quite the basketball player. The kids are enrolled in CCD in our Catholic Church Sacred Heart in Danbury.
The boys love our home in Danbury, love their friends, their family and most of all their little sister Vida. I cannot imagine losing them, I cannot imagine how I will explain to my 3 year old daughter that "her boys" live somewhere else.
I've spent years in and out of court fighting for my parental rights, all tolled I've spent thousands of dollars on lawyers, I've worked side jobs, taken bank loans and personal loans from family to fund the fight.
I'm out of money for the effort, I cannot borrow another dollar from the bank or family, I need help to keep my kids where they belong. For the first time in my life, I feel helpless. They are safe both physically and emotionally with me and my wife Erica, I know this to be true. I can't lose them, please help.
