The Irving Police Athletic League is an invaluable organization that provides services to help promote positive relationships and mentoring between police and children. This program began 25 years ago to target at-risk youth when Irving was struggling with gang-related activity and violence. The program has continued to grow and offers some amazing opportunities to local children that would otherwise not be able to participate in activities of this caliber. The IPAL's primary objective is to build healthy self-esteem through athletic activities. We are most prominently involved in boxing, but also provide programs such as physical fitness, wrestling, summer soccer and basketball camps as well as a variety of outdoor activities at no cost to the child.
The IPAL is in desperate need for a larger and safer facility to instruct and train. The State of Texas graciously awarded the IPAL a sum of approximately $202,000.00 with the condition that matching funds are raised by August 1, 2018. The funds we raise this year will enable IPAL to renovate a historic building the City of Irving currently owns, giving us the much needed training space required to offer services to more children as well as the addition of classroom space for tutoring, mentoring, and workshops, positioning us to better serve the youth of the community for years to come.
This is a unique opportunity to not only support an incredible youth program but also double the impact your dollar provides. The cost of renovations to the Armory is estimated to be approximately $500,000.00 so any donation is sincerely appreciated. Thank you for your consideration.
