Robin Forder Memorial Tree
Donation protected
Robin Forder was a familiar face in Silsoe. He moved here from Norfolk when he was about 10 years old, and lived in the village for over 70 years. During that time he raised a family, made many friends, worked on the land and made a contribution to village life. Robin was a legend at the allotments, where, as a long-term plot holder he helped both novice and experienced gardeners, giving good advice and help when it was needed.
Following his passing at the beginning of 2024, Silsoe Gardeners Club would like to present the village with a memorial tree dedicated to Robin. This will be planted on the Millennium Green between his home and the allotments, a path that he walked nearly every day. As his name was Robin it was felt that a tree that turned red for part of the year would be appropriate, so we are looking to buy a Freeman's Maple - Acer Freemanii "Autumn Blaze". This beautiful tree has small red flowers in the Spring, and the leaves turn from green to fiery red in the autumn. There will also a be a memorial plaque. Please help us to raise funds for Robin's tree by donating here. Thank you
