Lil' Leo Perzichilli
Donation protected
July 31st started out as a normal summer day until that evening when the Perzichilli family’s world was turned upside down. Stephanie had a placental abruption at only 26 weeks, due to the extreme bleeding and danger to the unborn baby, she underwent an emergency c-section. Little Leo was born at 26 weeks and 2 days weighing only 2 pounds 3 ounces. He was immediately transported to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at U of M Masonic Hospital where he still remains 12 weeks later. During his stay at the hospital, he has had many challenges, setbacks and surgeries. Leo suffered grade 4 bilateral brain bleeds at birth. Due to this, he now has hydrocephalus and has required two brain surgeries. He also has a hole in his heart and a heart murmur that need to be monitored very closely. The hospital is 45 miles from Farmington, causing the family to have to commute 90 miles daily to be with him and splitting their time between the hospital and home where they have two additional children. Stephanie has needed to take an unexpected leave from her nursing career to be by Leo’s side in the hospital and be available for him when he is discharged, hopefully before Thanksgiving. Due to the severe brain bleeds, Leo’s future is still unknown at this time. They are hopefully with frequent occupational therapy appointments, Leo’s brain will rewire itself and he will not be left with any long term complications. This Go-Fund me page has been set up to help with family with day to day expenses as well as the medical bills that are growing by the day.
