Chop for charity

Well, it’s happening again folks! I am aiming to reach a handsome sum of money in support of “Hope House”.  To do this, I am chopping off my 25cm ponytail to raise these funds.

Hope House is a program run by the not-for-profit Community Life Batemans Bay Inc. organisation, that provides medium-term therapeutic rehabilitation accommodation for homeless men involved with addictions, mental health issues, the justice system, domestic violence, or have otherwise been down on their luck in life.

Hope House uses a person-centred approach to build upon Maslow’s hierarchy of needs to develop the skills and supports needed to break free from destructive patterns and behaviours,assist the men to re-engage with life and become active and contributing members of the community. Hope House achieves this via coordinated programs, education, assistance and support to create a true sense of belonging, security, friendship, health and well-being,leading to self-actualisation.

My goal is to raise $1,500 to help Hope House to continue to make a positive impact not only in the lives of the men whom are ready to take the next step in their healing journey, but also the local community itself that it is a part of.

Of the 44 men assisted in the last financial year, 46% have now moved into their own accommodation, 23% have returned to their families & 16% have found employment.
