Bringing the ULTRA MMA to Brighton

On Sunday 6th July 2025, I will be taking part in The Ultra MMA raising vital funds for the Russell Martin Foundation who are a registered charity that works to impact positively upon the lives of children, young people and adults through football, education, health and improvement.

With funding so restrictive, there has never been a greater need to help this charity, I have seen the work they do but these community projects can only keep going if we help.

Here are just a few examples of the recent project this charity do.

*EXTRA TIME PROJECT is an alternative provision in Brighton &hove, Worthing and Crawley. Supporting children who are struggling in mainstream school to improve their mental health and identify strategies to assist them back into school.

*Community outreach - working with vulnerable children and teenagers in police “hotspots”. Mentoring them instead of police arresting them, the staff educate them and their parents about the risks and consequences. Diverting them with positive activities instead of criminal activity.

*On-site school mentoring: working with groups or 1:1 with teenagers who are dis regulated and likely to be excluded to change their behaviour.

*Youth offending institutes and children’s secure units: (mentoring children who are locked up) NHS contract to improve and support mental Health through counselling and mentoring.

*Adult education - helping families become more resilient and seeking employment.

*Probation service mentoring: mentoring in the community with men having left prison to seek employment, re connect with families and make better choices.

*HAF. (Holiday and food) Feeding children in school holidays who have been identified as vulnerable and may not have a hot meal without the engagement. Sessions are fun and creative and engaging with families. RMF also deliver food parcels through out Sussex

*Girls empowerment group. Supporting vulnerable girls to increase self esteem and give them targeted mentoring from inspirational women around safety and life choices

These are just a handful of the recent projects ongoing with RMF - They truly are changing the lives of many.
