Hello everyone,
It is no secret that the Rio Grande Valley and our local hospitals are overwhelmed due to COVID-19. My step-dad is an ICU doctor at DHR and has been working endlessly with nurses, PAs and his group of partners to try and slow down the spread and save as many lives as possible. Unfortunately, the number of cases in passed weeks have reached an all time high, causing local government to call for help from traveling nurses who have been traveling state to state fighting Covid for the past 5-6 months. When the nurses arrived they were placed in hotels and are currently being transported to hospitals in shuttles. They work long hours every day and night. When they arrive to the hotels they are given left over food from the hospital cafeterias, sandwiches, and microwaveable meals. Seeing as to these men and women are so willing to travel and risk their health to help in our community, I feel as though we should give back and do our best to thank them for their selfless services. My friends and family have come together and decided to try and raise money for these brave men and women, we hope that at the end of this we will be able provide them with home cooked meals and the proper catering. It is a small movement but something as minor as a nice warm meal can go along way.
