Help us bring coffee to El Salvador's most vulnerable communities!
These uncertain times have highlighted the importance of community. People have come together and provided for those who are most vulnerable. As a coffee farm, at times we felt irrelevant and wondered what role we played during a pandemic, how we could help. The answer was obvious: we can provide coffee!
El Salvador has been on a strict quarantine since March 22nd and while staying home saves lives, many have been left without an income. This has driven those who are most vulnerable to extremes, like raising white flags outside their homes to request food. Some are even trading their clothes for $0.50 USD (2 coras = 2 quarters) of coffee. Community organizations providing relief to famine-struck homes are requesting coffee as an essential necessity.

Fortunately at San Antonio Amatepec, we're also part of a global community! We’re waiving all profits, only covering some costs (gentle reminder: we’re still in a coffee price crisis), but need your help to cover costs of processing, roasting, packaging, transportation, and Gofundme. With $3, we can deliver a pound of coffee to someone’s home.
We will give priority to:
- The Elder Community: the organization we're donating to (FUSATE) provides food and shelter to over 5,000 elders, many who are houseless, have no support from their families, and rely on donations
- At-Risk Communities of San Salvador: our partner organization (Cristo Redentor) has identified vulnerable families in San Salvador who will benefit from coffee donations
*** We’re already working with organizations to identify additional vulnerable communities who need coffee donations. If you’d like more information on El Salvador’s famine due to COVID restrictions, you can check out this video: click here.
