Copper Canyon Medical Mission Trip
In my journey to become a nurse, I have had many opportunities to give back to our community. As most of you know, I love running. In fact, I've probably asked you to join me at one time or another. Recently, I heard about an opportunity to touch the lives of the Tarahumara Indians "running people” in the Copper Canyons of Mexico.
I've wanted to serve this community for a long time, as they unknowingly touched my life after reading Born to Run in 2010. The Tarahumara Indians still live in the caves of mountains surrounding Creel, and are in constant threat of starvation, cold, tuberculosis, dehydration, and many kinds of abuse. A small group of nursing students and I, will also be caring for the children at the Children's home in Creel and neighboring Children's Home in Bachiniva.
Being a nursing student, however, means living on a fixed income. In order to make this trip possible, I need to raise $1800.00. All donations will go directly to the mission trip expenses: airfare, lodging, transportation, and supplies. I have some money saved, but need your help to make this trip a reality.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider my cause!
