George Webster CUPE members in most need
Donation protected
The Ford government's use of Bill 28 and the notwithstanding clause was an attack on the rights of all workers across Ontario. Our George Webster community stands in solidarity with our local CUPE members who have taken action against this violation of Charter rights. We hope a fair and negotiated agreement is reached ASAP.
Even with school set to re-open, the lowest-paid CUPE members who work in our school will still be feeling the pinch come their next pay – after having their regular wages for Friday and Monday impacted. Where CUPE members are eligible for strike pay, it is nominal and a massive pay cut. This grassroots fundraising campaign aims to provide financial support for CUPE members in most need, including those who are single parents or part of single-income households.
Donations will be distributed on a need basis. A portion of the funds raised will also be reserved for pending CUPE local custodial staff.
