We are Zara Lily Shannon and Lucy Girvan Hendy, TY students fundraising for Cara Girls Rescue Centre in Nairiobi, where we are going to volunteer in January 2023.

Cara was founded by a local man Paddy O Connor from Newbridge and its main source of income is from the annual two week volunteer camp where volunteers raise money before we leave.

The money we raise will go to cover school fees for every girl and goes directly to cover day to day overheads.

Its key aim is to empower Kajaido county girls to become fully independent so they can rejoin their community to challenge & change some unhelpful traditions such as early childhood marriage (which has already proved successful!)

The girls come from many difficult backgrounds. Along with the money we raise, we will be teaching the girls computer skills, playing with them and doing annual maintenence on the centre. We would be really grateful for your support.
