Iona and Dan
Donation protected
My good friends, Dan and Iona Smith, want to be parents. After several years of expensive and unsuccessful IVF, I am happy that they have not given up this dream and are now beginning the adoption process.
Adoption can be incredibly expensive. When I first suggested this Go Fund Me page to help them with the adoption costs,. Dan and Iona hesitated. Eventually, they reluctantly agreed.
I convinced them because I truly believe others will want to help them in this endeavor. Dan and Iona are integral parts of our community. Many of you have teens who have gone through the RSYP Culinary Apprenticeship Program at John Andrews, which Dan has run for more than 10 years. (Personally, I am thrilled my daughter is participating in this program this fall.). Dan also contributes to numerous fundraising events in Berkshire County, which he has been doing since opening the doors to John Andrews in 1990. As a development professional, I approach Dan annually, asking for donated food, time, and/or gift certificates.
Iona continues with her community health advocacy work, through her work with teens at Railroad Street Youth Project and Kripalu, bringing yoga and mindfulness programs to our teens and educators in our schools.
They are a big part of my family's life, and have been the first ones I approach when I am going to be out of town and need help with my daughter. They are naturals with children and teens, and I think the child who ends up with Dan and Iona as parents will be one incredibly lucky kid!
I hope you will join me in contributing to this cause! Thank you.
