Run Against Rape

In the United States, every 92 seconds someone is raped. Every 92 seconds someone is put in what may be a life or death situation. A situation that results in pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases and 13% of the time, in suicides. Every nine minutes, that person is a child under the age of twelve.

People tend to overlook the topic of rape because maybe it hasn't happened to them, or it feels so far from home, but that is not the case. I was raped when I was twelve years old. I felt useless. I watched my control, my power, my mentality slip from my fingers. And now, I want to protect as many people as possible from these horrors. I want to do everything in my power to stop rape as a whole. 

I am raising money to help protect as many victims as I possibly can so that no one else has to endure the pain that I suffered.The money raised is going to help survivors recover and get the tools they need to physically and mentally rebuild themselves. 

In order to help others, I am planning a 5k run, Run Against Rape, in May of 2020. Run Against Rape is raising money for RAINN. RAINN (Rape, Abuse, Assault National Network) is a non profit organization that provides the necessary tools, both physically and mentally, in order to help survivors recover. The money raised is also going to a self defense class that will teach people of all ages how to protect themselves in an emergency.

You are making a difference. You are helping to decrease the number of post rape suicides. You are helping rebuild the lives of so many rape survivors. You are helping to protect so many children, teenagers and adults from becoming victims.
