"6 lives saved by smoke detectors late last night! At approximately 12:24am Pleasant Fire was dispatched to 700W for a structure fire. Upon arrival we found a home fully involved with heavy fire throughout. Arriving crews deployed several lines and started an aggressive attack on the fire. Sadly the structure and contents are a total loss. Crews from multiple departments worked for several hours to extinguish and overhaul the structure and left the scene shortly after 4:00 am.

The homeowner stated that he was awoken by the smoke detectors and got out of bed to investigate. He stated that the floor was almost too hot to walk on. Luckily they were able to get all 4 children and the family dogs out of the house in time.

The definitive cause of this fire is still unknown but we can definitely say that without smoke detectors, the outcome could’ve been very different. If you are unsure if your smoke detectors work or if you need a smoke detector, please contact us and we will set up a time to help you!
