Mark's fight
Donation protected
Mark is a highly loyal, loving and God fearing family man. A best friend to his wife of 18 years. Devoted father to two boys ages 14 and 19 years old. Mark always lives and stands by his values.Mark is the sole provider for his family, He and his wife also take care of his Dad. That stays with them due to his own health problems.
Mark is a dedicated gear head. He is an equipment manager at a country club in North Carolina. He learned his skills in the U.S. Navy to create a career to support his family. Mark is the first person to help someone in need no questions asked. Whether it's a person broken down on the side of the road, a coworker ,friend or neighbor. He has always helped anyone that asks or needs without hesitation. He is one of those "shirt off his back, kind of guys."
Last year Mark started having digestive and stomach issues. He visited his doctor in early Feb. The doctor ordered some tests, and the tests came back normal. He changed his diet and started taking probiotics, but nothing was easing his discomfort. March, Mark is turning 50! Doctor suggests that he have his first colonoscopy. Three days before his 50th birthday he is diagnosed with colon cancer. You can imagine Mark and his wife's shock and terror hearing this news. How were they going to tell their two boys and family? The next terrifying unfortunate thought was the reality of the cost of the treatment that the insurance does not cover. Mark is still not sure if the cancer has spread to the rectum or lymph nodes. Further imaging is required. He has already had one CT scan and now is needing a PET scan and an MRI. These are not covered by insurance. Surgery to remove the tumor and a portion of the colon is scheduled in April. (On their anniversary) Chemotherapy and radiation treatment may also be needed. Mark still has a very long difficult road ahead. He has a wonderful care team, he is in great hands and his doctors are very hopeful.
Through this fundraiser we are hoping to raise enough money to pay out of pocket expenses for Mark's care that he needs. Months of doctor visits, tests, missed work, family expenses are needed. Mark, the one who always helps others, now needs others' help. Mark is so loved and admired by everyone that knows him. We all have so much love for him. We are all praying for a full recovery. Your thoughts and prayers are needed more than anything. Any help that would ease the financial burden on Mark and his family are greatly appreciated. He needs to concentrate on his battle for recovery. Thank you all so much!!
