My Volunteer Trip

My name is Gabby and I'm a 16 year old Junior at Chaparral HS and live in Temecula, California.  I have always enjoyed volunteering and have spent time doing things for the community such as  painting homes with Habitat for Humanity, encouraging athletes for the Inland Empire Youth Special Olympics as well as getting involved at local elementary schools during events like the Fall Festival.  I really enjoy helping people but especially kids. 

The money I raise will go to helping me attend the Global Leadership Adventures program in Guatemala, where I will be assisting children of the Maya.  The trip lasts (2) weeks towards the end of June to early July. While there, we will visit schools with the mission of teaching kids how to read, write and speak English. I will learn about the culture and experience life as the locals do. 

I am hopeful to hit my goal and start planning this reality very soon. It would mean a lot to me to do this independent of my parents help. I believe this will be a big life opportunity for me where I can grow as a person while also helping kids which is near and dear to my heart as I have aspirations to become an elementary school teacher some day.
