Dash Wolf was born with a rare condition called Hydrocephalus--also known as fluid in his brain.
This beautiful boy came fighting into this world with the will to live and an extra large head to love. Hydrocephalus causes head enlargement, headache, cognitive difficulties and loss of coordination.
Dash has spent the first 2 weeks of his life in the NICU with respiratory distress. While in NICU, he developed a high fever which was linked to a rare form of Meningitis. After diagnosis, he spent the next 7 weeks in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. With slow progress, Dash was approved for Neurosurgery. While recovering from the placement of his Shunt, Dash stopped eating and started vomiting. A series of test were performed to find out the shunt has malfunctioned and twisted in his intestines. He underwent emergency surgery, which landed him back in the hospital for another 6 weeks. Dash recently had his 3rd surgery to get a functioning valve.
Ashley and Dannie have spent the last 6 months switching shifts in a hospital room, all while caring for their 2 young daughters at home.
It has not been easy for them to talk about what struggles they're facing.
From time in the hospital, rushing back to Big Bear to raise the girls at home, to endless waits in a pharmacy line, the financial burden has started to take over their lives. I'm hoping by sharing the story of this strong family, we can put together any extra dollars we can to make sure their house stays warm, their milk stays full, the smiles return to their faces and most of all, that Dash can continue treatments.
The Clinage Family has a long road ahead of them and I know that these sweet people would do just the same for any of their friends. Please share this story so we can help them during this extremely hard time.
